Urban design project
“Tempelhofer Kiez” uses unique vocabulary from Berlin to put out the idea of the urban definition of the neighborhood’s development. Potentials and difficulties from the on-site analysis were taken into account in order to improve current urban qualities and implement urban densification strategies to realize the concept of a “Berliner Kiez” through two phases and used a hierarchical scale for interventions. The area around Bosepark and Alter Park was designated for some urban upgrading, such as the conversion of the central urban space into a market space rather than a place for cars to park and the pedestrianization of some joints for better pedestrian flow. New development plans were put forth on the other side of Tempelhofer Damm. A new plaza was introduced creating a visual and open connection between the two sides of the road. The front square creates an open invitation to the inner district with its mixed-use structures, landscape, and its public space with its various scales.
